First, the title: Hey-Diddy-Ahh is a vocalization of the melody's first 4 notes. They are the back-bone of the larger melodic line. (Think Dizzy's "Ool-ya-koo").
Now that that is out of the way: this chart will give your wind players something to take home and woodshed. And, to make matters worse, the syncopated even-8th groove that carries on throughout the tune (primarily in the rhythm section and trombones) just won't leave you alone (a real big band earworm , so they say).
This chart, which is exciting from beginning to end, is a great choice to open or close a festival or concert program, if you think your band is up for it.
