"Ma'oz Tzur" lead sheets
Pronounced mah-oh-TSOOR, this is one of the most well-known Chanukah melodies. It is usually sung in a hymn-like 4/4, but I've reworked it here as a jazz waltz.
Of the three recordings above, the jazz trio version follows the lead sheet the closest. Incidentally, Ma'oz Tzur translates into Rock of Ages.
Help yourself to the mp3s and the lead sheets, transposed for all of the usual suspects. And feel free to try this out on your next holiday-time gig. L'chaim!
I have full arrangements available for both saxophone quartet and jazz ensemble (as heard in the recordings above). There don't seem to be many jazzy Chanukah charts available, so you might wanna grab these now - especially while they're on sale.
