I wrote these 24-bars (with a tag) to serve as the back-bone of a new piece for saxophone quartet. I had in mind the loose, happy, almost-Calypso-like feeling in a lot of Ornette Coleman's playing. (This does not have the sudden shifts of tonal center and tonality often heard in Coleman's playing).
Anyhow, this little ditty is a fun solo "cutie." And, since it's unaccompanied, you can play it on soprano, alto, tenor, or baritone saxophone with equally good results.
Be sure to download, read, and enjoy.
BTW, I have also begun using an adaptation of this tune with my jazz quartet. Great fun! I'll post those lead sheets in coming weeks.
